Welcome to Atelier de Famille – a small, jewellery workshop located just outside Paris, where our team carefully creates, assembles and engraves simple, unique pieces. Thanks to each individual message, our jewellery brings a special meaning to its recipient.
At Atelier de Famille not only do we create personalised pieces for you and your family, we also aim to provide a family friendly workplace for all involved in our project.
Our story
It all begins with an idea....
Back in spring 2005 Karen was trying to find some way of ensuring her children always had her mobile number with them, and came up with the idea of a simple piece of jewellery: not a printed rubber band or beach club bracelet, rather something that chic French children could wear all summer long!
Thanks to her artistic flair and « savoir-faire » Karen came up with the technique of using her art tools to engrave mother-of-pearl and small pieces of silver, so transforming them into her children's first customised jewels. That summer they were a hit!
...and develops into a family business...
Karen, and her sister Virginie, decided to test the concept at a creative show in Lyon, which proved such a success it was clear she couldn't stop there. Karen and her husband, subsequently set up « Atelier de Famille » - within weeks their brother-in-law had drafted the layout of the website.
...founded on friendship...
Mathilde and Karen had become firm friends whilst working together for a large French cosmetics house, regularly meeting for coffee or lunch. In ten years of friendship they had come up with hundreds of business ideas, few of which made it past dessert! This was different.
...and individual strengths...
Take Karen's idea, her creativity, her determination and entrepreneurial flair, add to it Mathilde's marketing and internet experience along with her organisational skills and before long « Atelier de Famille » became just that – a family business in name and nature.
Sisters, sisters-in-law, cousins and friends all helped out – and as the business has grown the majority of our team is composed of dynamic mums working around their family commitments.

Our know-how
Engraving is without doubt what we do best at Atelier de Famille. Be it by hand or using traditional jewellers' machinery, our engravers are rigourously trained and take great care to ensure each piece is as near perfect as possible.
Our creativity is key to designing new, innovative products that you won't find on the High Street or « centre commercial »! As we work with new materials, colours, forms and techniques each product has a unique element – be it a personal message, an interchangeable stone or charm, a customised wrist band....
Family values and attention to detail influence everything we do – from ensuring each order meets our customer's expectations to the involvement of all members of our growing « family ».
